Hiking in the White Mountains
This August, Chi Alpha is hosting a hiking trip in the White Mountains. The plan is to leave at 9:30 p.m. on July 31 and return on Saturday evening, August 6. We will set up tents at a local campsite and offer several options of hiking, depending on how rigorous an adventure students prefer. Two of the hiking destinations are shown below.
Take a look at the schedule here. We will host an info meeting for those interested on Thursday, May 26 at 6:30 p.m. in the Kanley Chapel office. The estimated cost per person is $130. There will be additional cost for food. Due to limited space, the trip is currently available to active WMU/KVCC students. You can reserve your spot with a $50 deposit that is due by June 10, with the remaining $80 due on July 15 (2 weeks prior to the trip). If you are away from Kalamazoo for the summer but are interested in reserving a spot, email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
The Pemi Loop
The Pemi Loop is a 30.5 mile circular route in the western Pemigewasset Wilderness in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Part of the loop overlaps with the Appalachian Trial. The series of summits over 4,000 ft elevation make it a popular hiking route in New England. The picture to the left shows the Franconia Ridge Trail.
The bondcliff is opposite the Franconia Ridge Trail. Hikers choosing to hike the full loop will pass this spot on the third day of hiking. Day hikes to both the Franconia Ridge and the Bondcliff will also be available.
